সুনামগঞ্জে সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় মা-মেয়ে নিহত
টাংগুয়ার হাওর ভ্রমণে এসে সুনামগঞ্জের শান্তিগঞ্জ উপজেলায় মর্মান্তিক সড়ক দুর্ঘটনায় প্রাণ হারিয়েছেন এক মা ও তার মেয়ে। শুক্রবার (২৫ অক্টোবর) ভোর ৬টার দিকে উপজেলার পাগলা বাজার সংলগ্ন ইনাতনগর গ্রামের প্রবেশমুখে (শত্রুমর্দন বাঘেরকোনা গ্রামের সামনে) এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটে।
নিহতরা হলেন—ঢাকার বাসিন্দা আব্দুল্লাহ আল মামুনের স্ত্রী মনজুরা আক্তার (৩৭) এবং তাদের মেয়ে আয়েশা সিদ্দিকা (১০)। তারা চাঁদপুর জেলার দোয়ালিয়া গ্রামের স্থায়ী বাসিন্দা।
প্রত্যক্ষদর্শীরা জানান, বাংলাদেশ কেমিক্যাল ইন্ডাস্ট্রিজ করপোরেশনের (বিসিআইসি) ১১ জন উচ্চপদস্থ কর্মকর্তা সপরিবারে সুনামগঞ্জের টাংগুয়ার হাওরে ভ্রমণের উদ্দেশ্যে ঢাকার তেজগাঁও এলাকা থেকে দূরপাল্লার বাস সেঁজুতি ট্রাভেলস (নম্বর: ঢাকা মেট্রো ব-১৫-৬০৮২) যোগে রওনা দেন। সকাল ছয়টার দিকে বাসটি শান্তিগঞ্জ উপজেলার ইনাতনগর এলাকায় পৌঁছালে চালক নিয়ন্ত্রণ হারিয়ে ফেলেন। মুহূর্তের মধ্যে বাসটি রাস্তা থেকে ছিটকে পাশের খাদে পড়ে যায়।
দুর্ঘটনায় ঘটনাস্থলেই মা মনজুরা আক্তার ও তার মেয়ে আয়েশা সিদ্দিকা নিহত হন। এ সময় অন্তত ১০ যাত্রী আহত হন। স্থানীয়রা দ্রুত আহতদের উদ্ধার করে শান্তিগঞ্জ উপজেলা স্বাস্থ্য কমপ্লেক্সে নিয়ে যান।
খবর পেয়ে শান্তিগঞ্জ ফায়ার সার্ভিসের একটি টিম ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে উদ্ধার অভিযান পরিচালনা করে। একই সঙ্গে শান্তিগঞ্জ থানা ও জয়কলস হাইওয়ে থানার পুলিশ ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছে পরিস্থিতি নিয়ন্ত্রণে আনে।
জয়কলস হাইওয়ে থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) সুমন কুমার চৌধুরী বলেন, “আমরা খবর পেয়ে ঘটনাস্থলে গিয়ে দেখি বাসটি খাদে পড়ে উল্টে আছে। ফায়ার সার্ভিসের সহায়তায় বাসের নিচে চাপা পড়া মা-মেয়ের মরদেহ উদ্ধার করা হয়েছে।”
Mother and Daughter Killed in Sunamganj Road Accident

A tragic road accident in Sunamganj’s Shantiganj upazila claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter on Friday morning. The accident occurred around 6:00 am near the entrance of Inatnagar village, close to Pagla Bazar (in front of Shatrumardan Baghirkona village).
The deceased were identified as Monjura Akter (37) and her daughter Ayesha Siddika (10), wife and daughter of Abdullah Al Mamun, residents of Dhaka. Their permanent home was in Duwalia village, Chandpur district.
According to eyewitnesses, a group of 11 senior officials from the Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC), along with their families, were traveling to Tanguar Haor on a long-distance bus operated by Sejuti Travels (Dhaka Metro Ba-15-6082). When the bus reached Inatnagar area of Shantiganj upazila, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then veered off the road and plunged into a roadside ditch.
Monjura Akter and her daughter Ayesha Siddika died on the spot. At least 10 other passengers sustained injuries in the crash. Locals rushed to the scene and rescued the injured, taking them to Shantiganj Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
Upon receiving the news, a team from the Shantiganj Fire Service carried out a rescue operation, while police from Shantiganj Police Station and Jaikals Highway Police Station arrived to bring the situation under control.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) Suman Kumar Chowdhury of Jaikals Highway Police Station said:
“When we reached the spot, we found the bus overturned in a ditch. With the help of the fire service, we recovered the bodies of the mother and daughter trapped underneath the vehicle.”
