ছাতকের ইউএনওর বিরুদ্ধে অভিযোগ মিথ্যা প্রমাণিত

সুনামগঞ্জের ছাতক উপজেলা নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা (ইউএনও) মো. তরিকুল ইসলামের বিরুদ্ধে সরকারি ভূমি বন্দোবস্ত নিয়ে ‘কোটি টাকার বাণিজ্য’ শিরোনামে যে অভিযোগ কিছু গণমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত হয়েছিল, তা প্রশাসনিক প্রাথমিক তদন্তে সম্পূর্ণ মিথ্যা ও উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিত বলে প্রমাণিত হয়েছে।

গত ২৪ অক্টোবর ছাতকের গোবিন্দগঞ্জ এলাকায় সরেজমিন তদন্ত ও গণশুনানি পরিচালনা করেন অতিরিক্ত জেলা প্রশাসক (এডিসি) সমর কুমার পাল। তদন্তে অংশ নেন স্থানীয় জনপ্রতিনিধি, ক্ষুদ্র ব্যবসায়ী, মৎস্যজীবী ও সাধারণ মানুষ। সবাই সর্বসম্মতিক্রমে জানান— ইউএনও মো. তরিকুল ইসলাম একজন সৎ, মানবিক ও আদর্শ কর্মকর্তা।

স্থানীয়রা বলেন, ইউএনও তরিকুল ইসলাম দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর থেকেই ছাতকে উন্নয়নে নিরলসভাবে কাজ করে যাচ্ছেন। তিনি সরকারি সম্পদ রক্ষা ও অবৈধ দখলদারদের উচ্ছেদে কঠোর ভূমিকা রাখছেন। উদ্দেশ্যপ্রণোদিতভাবে যারা মিথ্যা সংবাদ প্রকাশ করে সৎ কর্মকর্তাদের মানহানি ঘটায়, তাদের বিরুদ্ধে দ্রুত আইনানুগ ব্যবস্থা নেওয়ার দাবি জানান উপস্থিতরা।

স্থানীয় ব্যবসায়ী একাধিক ব্যক্তি জানান, ইউএনওর কঠোর পদক্ষেপে অবৈধ বালু উত্তোলনকারী সিন্ডিকেট ও মাদক ব্যবসায়ীরা এখন কোণঠাসা। তিনি দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর থেকেই উপজেলায় দৃশ্যমান উন্নয়ন হয়েছে। তাঁদের ভাষায়, “যিনি সততা ও নিষ্ঠার মাধ্যমে জনআস্থা অর্জন করেছেন, তাঁকে ষড়যন্ত্র করে বদনাম করার চেষ্টা করা হচ্ছে— এটি প্রশাসনের জন্যও দুঃখজনক।”

গোবিন্দগঞ্জ ক্ষুদ্র মৎস্য সমবায় সমিতির সভাপতি নুরুল ইসলাম বলেন, “ইউএনও তরিকুল ইসলাম দায়িত্ব নেওয়ার পর গোবিন্দগঞ্জ বাজারের চেহারা পাল্টে গেছে। বহু বছর দখলে থাকা সরকারি সম্পত্তি উদ্ধার করে মৎস্যজীবীদের জন্য সেডঘর নির্মাণ ও রাজস্ব ভিত্তিক বন্দোবস্তের উদ্যোগ নিয়েছেন।”

সমিতির সাধারণ সম্পাদক শাহজাহান মিয়া অভিযোগ করেন, “সাংবাদিক পরিচয়ধারী দুজন ব্যক্তি আমাদের কাছে চাঁদা দাবি করেছিলেন। আমরা চাঁদা দিতে অস্বীকৃতি জানালে আমাদের ও ইউএনওর বিরুদ্ধে মিথ্যা সংবাদ প্রকাশ করা হয়, যা সরকারের উন্নয়ন কর্মকাণ্ড বাধাগ্রস্ত করার শামিল।”

ইউএনও মো. তরিকুল ইসলাম বলেন, “গোবিন্দগঞ্জের জায়গাটি ছিল ময়লার ভাগার। অবৈধ দখলদারদের উচ্ছেদ করে মৎস্যজীবী ও সাধারণ মানুষের সুবিধার্থে সরকারি বিধি মোতাবেক বন্দোবস্তের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে। এতে সরকার রাজস্ব পাবে, জনগণ উপকৃত হবে।”

তিনি আরও জানান, “এখানে ২০৮ জন মৎস্যজীবী সদস্য রয়েছেন। মোট ২৮ শতক জমির মধ্যে ১.৫০ শতাংশ ইতোমধ্যে বন্দোবস্ত দেওয়া হয়েছে। বাকি অংশও সরকারি নিয়মে প্রান্তিক জনগোষ্ঠীর মধ্যে দেওয়া হবে।”

এ বিষয়ে তদন্তকারী কর্মকর্তা এডিসি সমর কুমার পাল বলেন, “সরকারি কর্মকর্তাদের বিরুদ্ধে প্রকাশিত সংবাদের সত্যতা যাচাই করা প্রশাসনের দায়িত্ব। প্রাথমিক অনুসন্ধানে ইউএনও তরিকুল ইসলামের বিরুদ্ধে আনা অভিযোগের কোনো বাস্তব ভিত্তি পাওয়া যায়নি।”

তিনি জানান, তদন্ত প্রতিবেদন যথাযথ কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে উপস্থাপন করা হবে।

Allegations Against Chatak UNO Proven False

The allegations of “multi-million taka trade” over government land settlement against Md. Tarikul Islam, Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) of Chatak in Sunamganj, have been proven entirely false and baseless in an initial administrative investigation.

On October 24, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Samar Kumar Pal conducted an on-site investigation and public hearing in Gobindaganj, Chatak. Local public representatives, small business owners, fishermen, and residents participated in the hearing. They unanimously stated that UNO Md. Tarikul Islam is an honest, humane, and exemplary government officer.

Locals said that since taking office, the UNO has been working tirelessly for the development of Chatak. He has taken strict measures to protect government property and evict illegal occupiers. The attendees demanded legal action against those who spread false news with the intent to defame honest officers.

Several local businessmen mentioned that the UNO’s firm stance has weakened illegal sand extraction syndicates and drug dealers. They added, “It is unfortunate that a dedicated officer who has earned the trust of the people through honesty and integrity is being targeted with conspiracies.”

Nurul Islam, president of the Gobindaganj Small Fishermen’s Cooperative Society, said, “Since UNO Tarikul Islam took charge, the appearance of Gobindaganj market has changed. Government property that had been illegally occupied for years was reclaimed, and initiatives were taken to build sheds for fishermen and lease land following government rules.”

The society’s general secretary Shahjahan Mia alleged, “Two individuals claiming to be journalists demanded money from us. When we refused, they published false news against us and the UNO — a clear attempt to obstruct government development efforts.”

UNO Md. Tarikul Islam said, “The land in Gobindaganj used to be a dumping ground. It has been cleared of illegal occupants and prepared for legal lease to benefit fishermen and local residents. The government will earn revenue while the people will benefit.”

He further explained that 208 fishermen are registered members of the cooperative. Out of a total of 28 decimals of land, 1.5 decimals have already been officially leased, and the rest will be allocated to marginalized communities in accordance with government regulations.

Investigation officer ADC Samar Kumar Pal said, “It is the administration’s duty to verify the authenticity of news reports against government officials. Preliminary findings show no factual basis for the allegations against UNO Tarikul Islam.”

He added that the investigation report will be submitted to the competent authorities for further action.
